I grew up in a working-class immigrant family. My father was a carpet cleaner, who single handedly put his wife and three sons through college. My mother became the owner of a small business, and everyone pitched in on the family business growing up.
From an early age, I grew up with a set of values centered on the importance of hard work and determination. At the age of 14, I filed my first tax return from a summer working in construction.
Growing up in a working-class community and fighting to change my circumstances gave me the moral character to lead the County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Departments.
For the past ten years, I’ve served San Benito County as a Bilingual Senior Deputy, Staff Analyst, and now the Assistant County Clerk-Recorder.
As the Assistant County Clerk-Recorder, my team revamped ballot audit procedures, implemented ballot drop boxes with 24/7 video surveillance, and initiated a pilot program for in-person visits to correct mail ballot discrepancies.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Politics & History from Saint Mary’s College of California and a Master of Public Administration from Norwich University. And I’m nationally certified as an Election Registration Administrator.
